BAMS: Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery
BAMS is an undergraduate degree programme that is designed to make students familiar with the concepts of Ayurveda and use it for the treatment of patients. BAMS incorporates Ayurveda with the concepts of modern medicines and students are taught a combination of both as part of the course curriculum.Basically BAMS is an integrated course with both modern and Ayurved but majority of its applications focused on traditional way of treatment. The minimum educational qualification required to take admission in this course is 12th class education with science.
Candidates willing to take medicine as a career can opt for Bachelors of Medicine and Surgery. BAMS is an Aryuvedic traditional healing art in India. BAMS course provides the complete knowledge about 'Ashtanga Ayurveda' along with scientific advances in modern medicine along with extensive practical training. Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) is the responsible body for admission to Ayurveda education at undergraduate as well as postgraduate level and for practice Ayurvedic medicine in India. The admission to BAMS courses will be granted on the basis of scores obtained in NEET exam.
The BAMS course curriculum contains the in depth study of Ayurved topics along with the study of modern anatomy, principle of surgery, principle of modern medicines, ENT, pharmcology and many more. Ayurveda not only talks about the cure of diseases but also provides solutions to prevent the recurrence of diseases. According to Ayurveda, the diseases or illnesses arise due to three types of dysfunctions in human body; Kapha, Pitta and Vata. A student completed the BAMS degree is designated as Ayurvedacharya. He can use the courtesy title “Doctor” upon registration as a medical practitioner.
Course Details Or Eligibility
BAMS is most apt for students who have a keen interest in the Medicine industry and would love to explore alternative methods of treatment.BAMS course is for five and a half years duration. After the completion of BAMS degree, the student will be awarded with the degree of 'Ayurvedacharya'. The theory BAMS course is carried out in four and a half years, while it is necessary for candidates to complete a year rotatory internship for practical training. The degree of BAMS is divided into three profession theory, which are mentioned in the table below.
.To pursue BAMS course in Indian colleges/ universities, aspirants should clear Class XII in Science stream with PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) subjects.
.The minimum percentage that students require in Class XII to be eligible for BAMS course admissions is 50% to 60%. However, the minimum percentage criteria changes depending on a college/ university policy.
.Candidates need to have qualified NEET 2020 by securing minimum qualifying cutoff percentile to get admission in BAMS course.
.For foreign students any other equivalent qualification approved by the University will be allowed.
