Full form of aids and why its stand for?

AIDS-Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome.

Acquired: Affected or to obtain.
Immune Deficiency:Its means failure of the immune system to protect the body adequately from infection, due to the absence or insufficiency of some component process or substance.                  "severe immune deficiency caused by a genetic defect"

Syndrome:A group of symptoms which consistently occur together, or a condition characterized by a set of associated symptoms.

Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) is a chronic, potentially life-threatening condition caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). By damaging your immune system, HIV interferes with your body's ability to fight the organisms that cause disease.                                  HIV is a sexually transmitted infection (STI). It can also be spread by contact with infected blood or from mother to child during pregnancy, childbirth or breast-feeding. Without medication, it may take years before HIV weakens your immune system to the point that you have AIDS.
AIDS Can not Be Transmitted: AIDS cannot be transmitted through ordinary contact like kissing, hugging, saliva, dancing or shaking hands with someone who has the infection.
AIDS can spread through Body Fluid:
through blood
through semen
through the vaginal and rectal fluid
through breast milk

What is main Symptoms of AIDS.

  • Soaking night sweats
  • Recurring fever
  • Chronic diarrhea
  • Persistent white spots or unusual lesions on your tongue or in your mouth
  • Persistent, unexplained fatigue
  • Weight loss
  • Skin rashes or bumps

Chronic HIV Infection:In some people, persistent swelling of lymph nodes occurs during this stage. Otherwise, there are no specific signs and symptoms. HIV remains in the body and in infected white blood cells.

This stage of HIV infection generally lasts around 10 years if you're not receiving antiretroviral therapy. But in this stage, the immune system loses the battle with HIV and the flu like symptoms disappear. The other symptoms may take months or years to appear. Doctors call this stage asymptomatic or clinical latent period. In this stage, the virus starts replicating in the body that gradually weakens the immune system. You may not look or feel sick, so there are chances that you can pass HIV to others. So, the early testing for HIV is very important, even if you are feeling fine. But sometimes, even with this treatment, it lasts for decades. Some people develop more severe disease much sooner.
As the virus continues to multiply and destroy your immune cells — the cells in your body that help fight off germs — you may develop mild infections or chronic signs and symptoms such as:
